Pre-Pilates Exercises

Cost: $850CDN

*This class is a prerequisite for all Pilates coursework

Movement Principles is the essential first step in the Balanced Body education pathway. It provides a strong foundation in movement analysis, biomechanics, and cueing—skills that support confident, effective teaching. This course is required for all Balanced Body Pilates training, no matter your background or experience, and offers a shared framework and lens for understanding the Pilates system. It introduces Pre-Pilates exercises that prepare the body for the next level of the Pilates curriculum and can be used as an introduction to the Pilates system on the mat or other equipment, supporting work with special populations such as rehabilitation, active aging, osteoporosis, and pregnancy.

Each course comes with everything you need to support your learning: a full-colour Balanced Body® manual and lifetime access to video tutorials. The manual provides clear exercise descriptions, photos, and cueing tips, while the videos allow you to review each exercise at any time to deepen your understanding and build confidence.

*As a bonus, students receive a custom Study Workbook unique to Lauren Brandt Pilates. It’s designed to help you stay organized, track your progress, and understand the material with clarity, offering extra support throughout your training.

Online Movement Principles Supplies:

  • Pilates mat

  • Foam roller (full length)

  • Pilates ball (8–10 inches)

  • Togu Ball (20 inches) (optional but recommended)

  • Theraband (preferably 6 feet long)

  • Rolled-up hand towel or large car sponge

  • A device with a working camera (the camera must remain on for the entire class)
