Begin your teaching journey with Balanced Body® Pilates Teacher Training, a globally respected program that blends classical roots with modern movement science.
Whether you’re seeking a Comprehensive Certification, focusing on Mat and Reformer, or choosing a Reformer-only or Mat-only path, each training option is designed to meet you where you are and support your professional goals.
All pathways begin with Movement Principles, the essential foundation course that deepens your understanding of movement, anatomy, and teaching skills, setting you up for success as a confident and knowledgeable Pilates instructor.
Training is offered in-studio in beautiful Victoria, BC, or online for added flexibility and accessibility. You can pay for courses individually at your own pace or save by bundling your training for a more comprehensive experience.

Mat 1: Introduction to Pilates & Beginning/Intermediate Exercises

Mat 1 forms the foundation of the Pilates method. This course includes an introduction to the history and principles of the Pilates method and the beginning and intermediate level exercises. Each exercise includes training on modifications, challenges, the purpose of the exercise and any precautions for injuries and special populations. How to design and teach group classes, and guidelines for teaching seniors and pre and postnatal classes are included.
Each course comes with everything you need to support your learning: a full-colour digital Balanced Body® manual and lifetime access to video tutorials. The manual provides clear exercise descriptions, photos, and cueing tips, while the videos allow you to review each exercise at any time to deepen your understanding and build confidence.
*As a bonus, students receive a custom Study Workbook unique to Lauren Brandt Pilates. It’s designed to help you stay organized, track your progress, and understand the material with clarity, offering extra support throughout your training.
Online Mat 1 required equipment:
Pilates mat

Mat 2: Intermediate/Advanced Exercises

Mat 2 teaches the remaining intermediate and advanced level Mat exercises for a complete understanding of the Pilates Mat program. Lectures include progressive skill development to achieve the advanced exercises, programming for intermediate and advanced classes and creating successful Mat classes.
Each course comes with everything you need to support your learning: a full-colour digital Balanced Body® manual and lifetime access to video tutorials. The manual provides clear exercise descriptions, photos, and cueing tips, while the videos allow you to review each exercise at any time to deepen your understanding and build confidence.

Mat 3: Enhanced Mat & Props

Prerequisite: Movement Principles, Mat 1 and 2, or successful completion of a comparable Pilates mat program.

Take for continuing education credits or simply to add infinite variety to your current Mat programming. Students who have taken Mat training, either from Balanced Body or another provider are welcome.
Enhanced Pilates Mat completes the mat training by adding rings, rollers, bands, and balls to the traditional Mat exercises. In addition, Enhanced Mat includes functional exercises for the upper and lower body, expanding the Mat work beyond the core to develop whole body strength and flexibility. The Balanced Body Programming System is introduced to make class design easy, effective and fun. Adding props to a mat class makes them more dynamic, creative, and accessible.

Mat Intensive

Our Mat Certification Intensive is a focused, immersive training designed for those who want to complete their Mat education in a condensed format. Running May 11–17, this intensive includes Movement Principles, Mat 1, Mat 2, and Mat 3, allowing you to move through the full Mat curriculum in a cohesive, integrated way.
This training is offered both in-studio in beautiful Victoria, BC, and live online, making it accessible while still maintaining a strong sense of connection and support. Spending consecutive days together allows concepts to build naturally, movement to deepen, and questions to be explored in real time. Rather than spacing courses out over months, you’ll gain momentum, continuity, and a strong embodied understanding of the Pilates Mat system.
You’ll learn alongside a supportive cohort with guidance from experienced educators, with time dedicated to practice, observation, and discussion throughout the week. Whether joining in person or online, the intensive format supports deep learning and confident integration of the material.
By the end of the week, you will have completed the full Balanced Body Mat curriculum and be well on your way toward certification.
Students receive 4 full-colour digital Balanced Body® manuals along with lifetime access to video tutorials, so you can review exercises anytime to deepen your understanding and build confidence. As a bonus, students also receive a custom study workbook unique to this Lauren Brandt Pilates training program for Mat. This workbook is designed to help you stay organized, track your progress, and fully grasp the material throughout your training.
